This question illustrates the effect of different levels of WIP in a serial production system using CONWIP production control. Use the Penny Fab simulation (Penny Fab_CW.mox) in the Examples/Models and Methods folder. Simulate the system with different levels of WIP with the lowest value set at 1. In each case make 10 runs of 1000 minutes each. Make a plot of WIP versus throughput rate. Justify Little’s law with the data. Comment on the effects of WIP level on the throughput and cycle time.
